History's Bizarre Skin Treatments

History's Bizarre Skin Treatments

We often get questions about weird and unique beauty treatments, and it spurred our interest in some of history’s more odd treatments. There are DOZENS of procedures and methods that sound absolutely bonkers; so, here’s one that stood out.

Paraffin Wax Injection:

Today, doctors and nurses use Botox and collagen to invigorate their clients’ face and skin. Back in the 1800s, some doctors injected paraffin wax to smooth out wrinkles. Paraffin was also injected into women in some of the earliest endeavors at breast augmentation and rhinoplasty. But for good reason the practice fell out of favor – it caused formation of firm, excruciating lumps known as paraffinoma. One of the most famous instances of this was Gladys Spencer-Churchill (1881-1977), wife of the 9th Duke of Marlborough, who became a mentally ill hermit after she began to develop paraffinoma from injections to her nose that migrated to the rest of her face.

Your Image Wishes You A Happy New Year 2017~

Your Image Wishes You A Happy New Year 2017~

Going into a new year is the beginning for new experiences; it requires a motivational start for new adventures, along with these things to ponder.

Regardless of the plethora of experiences we faced in the past years, we learn from the pearls of wisdom, and experience the knowledge from them; they help us see the light, even if the tunnel is dark.

The gems of our experiences are meant to heighten our sense and our sensibilities. So, as we look into the mirror of our soul, we can see that hope and faith is the common denominator that has brought us where we are today.

Now, as the year comes to a close, we must release old thoughts and forgive old hurts and get enthusiastic about the future…the past won’t notice!

Honoring equal voting rights, a contribution to a nation of change~

Honoring equal voting rights, a contribution to a nation of change~

On the eve of August 18, 1920, Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting women the right to vote.

It all came down to one man, 24-year-old state legislator Harry Burn. On the morning of  August 18, 1920, Mr. Burn, who had been against ratification, received a letter from his mother which stated:

“Dear Son,

Hurray and vote for Suffrage and don’t keep them in doubt. I noticed Chandlers’ speech, it was very bitter. I’ve been waiting to see how you stood but have not seen anything yet…. Don’t forget to be a good boy and help Mrs. Catt with her “Rats.” Is she the one that put rat in ratification, Ha! No more from mama this time.

With lots of love,

Mama.”

As the roll call neared his name, he tightly held the letter from his mother in his hand.

The assembly clerk called his name. "Mr. Burn."

“Aye.”

And then, it was done! The struggle was over and American women had the right to vote, and with it full citizenship. The laborious work of thousands of women, and men, had finally been rewarded.

So let’s celebrate the strong, loving mother from Tennessee, Phoebe Ensminger Burn, who raised her son to respect women and their constitutional rights.

Vote your conscience and your future!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

On July 4, 1776, the United States of America declared its rights for independence. We became the "land of the free and the home of the brave."  Every year, on July 4, we proud American's measure our freedom, one life at a time, that was given for this great country.  For what greater love is there, than for a man to lay down his life his brother?

The declaration states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

May we keep this creed in our hearts, year round, and be proud of the American dream by always pursuing happiness and living life to its fullest. Value your freedom, for a great price was paid for it!

 Hope In Love Cinthia~
