From a child, until now, going to The Tennessee Theater will always hold fond memories in my heart. The thrill of watching The Wurlitzer Organ rise from the floor that’s capable of playing classical as well as non-classical repertoires is a site to behold.
I will always appreciate the Spanish-Moorish style that incorporates elements from all parts of the world like: Czechoslovakian crystals in the French-style chandeliers, Italian terrazzo flooring in the Grand Lobby, and Oriental influences in the carpet and drapery patterns. The Tennessee Theater is the certainly deserves to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places and to be honored as the Official State Theater.
There are many things going on in this grand entertainment palace. But, if you would like to enjoy the splendor of listening to this magnificent musical instrument, it’s only playing on the first Monday of the month.
Enjoy your well spent time ~Cinthia
